Job Summary:

You will be a key technical subject matter expert, responsible for maintaining high equipment availability rates. Your role will involve implementing preventive and predictive maintenance processes, responding rapidly to equipment breakdowns, and quickly restoring equipment to service. You will team up with other Target maintenance technicians to address complex issues, ensure that work by external specialty contractors meets quality standards, optimize ammonia refrigeration equipment with building leaders, manage multiple projects, and work with a sense of urgency. You will also collaborate with others to perform Root Cause Analysis for equipment failures and identify systemic issues using diagnostic tools. Maintaining an expert level of understanding of system control logic and troubleshooting techniques is crucial. Additionally, you will serve as a technical trainer for other maintenance technicians, assisting them in acquiring new skills. It is important to note that job duties may be subject to change based on business needs.

Roles and Duties:

  • Thoroughly understand the function of the different components of Ammonia Refrigeration Equipment, and be able to diagnose any problems that may occur in any of these areas
  • Actively engage in all components of Target's Process Safety Management effort (PSM) to promote a safe and secure environment
  • Complete preventive maintenance
  • Complete corrective maintenance
  • In repairing a non-functional device, we have the option of controlling, restoring, mending, or replacing any flawed parts
  • To ensure the longevity of equipment, it is necessary to clean out any dirt or oils, lubricate the inner workings, and give it a new paint job
  • Identify faulty electrical switches, fuses, and circuit breakers on power distribution systems, and implement prompt repairs
  • Regularly inspect and service facility equipment, including powered industrial trucks, HVAC systems, balers, and air compressors and dryers to prevent costly repairs and minimize operational disruptions
  • Basic Elements of a Schematic Diagram
  • Divide responsibilities and tasks among peer technicians based on each individual's areas of expertise, skill level, and availability
  • Lead technical training courses for maintenance technicians and provide mentorship and guidance to Maintenance Technician Trainees
  • Take advantage of portable gadgets and mobile asset management applications to seamlessly generate and execute Work Orders, capturing all requisite information such as labor hours, machinery breakdowns, troubleshooting steps, causal factors, and parts utilized
  • Encourage open communication by keeping channels of dialogue open with peers, supervisors, and subordinates
  • Eliminate any possible equipment safety hazards to establish a secure work environment before beginning any machinery maintenance
  • Competency to Earn and Keep a RETA CARO Certification

Physical Demands:

  • Consistently carrying out everyday activities that involve standing, bending, stretching, and reaching
  • Safe methods of ascent and descent on ladders, gangways, and stairs, as well as working on elevated platforms and equipment
  • Maintaining constant movement both within and around the area for prolonged periods, up to 10-12 hours
  • As part of your duties, move items like boxes and crates weighing under 50 pounds
  • Engaging in repetitive actions that may encompass the hands, wrists, or fingers
  • A noteworthy portion of time entailed by handheld devices or computer attachments, like mice, keyboards, measuring implements, and temperature gauges
  • Working with mechanical apparatus, bench power tools, motor vehicles, and/or large-scale equipment, which may also involve handling Powered Industrial Trucks with pedals, tillers, and switches
  • The utilization of manually-operated gears such as wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, hammers and other comparable devices
  • The work environment may encompass limited or compact areas, particulate matter, insufficient ventilation, strong or unpleasing scents, natural factors, extreme temperatures, excessive noise levels, vibration, extended periods of standing on concrete, and damp or uneven surfaces

Qualifications:

  • Possesses excellent computer proficiency and adeptness in utilizing handheld app systems
  • Understanding wiring diagrams, symbols, and electrical measuring is a key factor in effective troubleshooting and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment
  • Expertise in various fields:
  • Predictive maintenance procedures should then be implemented to address issues as they arise. These might include replacing worn or damaged components, performing repairs or adjustments to prevent failure, and implementing modifications to the system to improve its overall performance
  • In order to effectively read blueprints and schematics, it is important to have a strong foundation in math and geometry, as well as an understanding of technical terms and industry-specific jargon
  • Work order management
  • The growing importance of automation, robotics, and data analytics in modern industrial applications has made industrial electrical, controls, and electronics an increasingly important field
  • These programs typically include a series of logic functions and algorithms that are used to control different aspects of the system, such as sensors, actuators, and other components
  • The latest edition of the NEC includes provisions for the use of alternative energy sources, such as solar and wind power, and the installation of electric vehicle charging stations
  • The IIAR also conducts research and establishes industry standards to ensure the safe operation of ammonia refrigeration systems
  • One of RETA's core goals is to increase awareness about the importance of safety when working with refrigeration systems
  • Industrial maintenance certifications recognized by accrediting organizations with a technical or community college degree in the Mechanical/Electrical fields specializing in Machine Logic, Robotics, Industrial Networks, and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
  • A proficient operator of an ammonia refrigeration system in an industrial environment for over four years.
  • CARO and/or CIRO certifications are increasingly becoming a requirement for many high-level cybersecurity positions.
