Job Summary:

As a technical subject matter expert, your role will be instrumental in maintaining high equipment availability rates. You will utilize preventive and predictive maintenance processes to manage equipment breakdowns, rapidly restore equipment to service, and work with other Target maintenance technicians to address complex issues. You will oversee the quality of work provided by external specialty contractors, collaborate with building leaders to optimize ammonia refrigeration equipment, manage multiple projects, and prioritize tasks with a sense of urgency. You will also work with others to conduct Root Cause Analysis for equipment failures and address systemic issues through careful observation and diagnostic tools. A deep understanding of system control logic and troubleshooting techniques will be essential. Additionally, you will function as a technical trainer and support other maintenance technicians in building their expertise. It is vital to note that job duties may be revised in response to business requirements.

Roles and Duties:

  • Keep track of all maintenance activities performed on the Ammonia Refrigeration Equipment, including any upgrades or repairs, in order to facilitate accurate record-keeping
  • Be involved in all aspects of Target's Process Safety Management plan (PSM) to ensure safe and effective operations
  • Complete preventive maintenance
  • Complete corrective maintenance
  • In order to restore the proper functioning of a damaged machine, it is necessary to control, reset, repair, or replace its parts as needed
  • In order to preserve machinery, it is essential to first clean off debris, then use lubrication to reduce friction, and finish off with a coating of fresh paint
  • Troubleshoot power distribution systems, lighting systems, branch circuits, transformers, and wiring methods to ensure efficient performance
  • Carry out preventative maintenance protocols on the facility's machinery, which comprises powered industrial trucks, HVAC units, air compressors and dryers, and balers to ensure smooth functioning
  • Importance of Schematic Diagrams in Electrical and Electronic Circuits
  • Coordinate with colleagues on a regular basis to ensure that everyone is up-to-date on the latest developments and important details related to emergency repairs
  • Act as an expert on technical training for maintenance personnel and serve as the training supervisor for Maintenance Technician Trainees
  • Employ handheld devices and mobile asset management apps to initiate and close Work Orders, capturing necessary metrics such as labor hours, equipment downtime, fault identification, repair procedures, and parts usage
  • Develop a professional network that demonstrates a culture of mutual respect and collaboration
  • When handling equipment, it is critical to follow safety guidelines and utilize PPE for maximum protection against potential accidents
  • Capability to Obtain and Retain a RETA CARO Certification

Physical Demands:

  • Performing everyday motions such as bending, lifting, reaching, and stretching both below and above the waist frequently
  • Using safe and secure methods to climb up and down ladders, gangways, and stairs and work on platforms and equipment elevated at significant heights
  • Consistently being on the go within and beyond the location for prolonged periods of up to 10-12 hours per workday
  • Use physical strength to lift and transfer items that weigh as much as 49 pounds
  • Carrying out continuous motions that may encompass the wrists, hands, or fingers
  • A substantial amount of time used up using handheld devices or computer peripherals, including mice, keyboards, measuring tools, and temperature sensors
  • The operation of mechanical equipment, bench power instruments, motor vehicles, and/or oversized machinery, along with driving Powered Industrial Trucks that come with pedals, tillers, and switches
  • The use of non-powered instruments such as wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, hammers and other traditional tools
  • Environmental conditions that workers may encounter could be small or enclosed areas, dust, poor ventilation, unpleasant odors, outdoor elements, extreme temperatures, high levels of noise, vibrations, extensive standing on hard concrete, and surfaces that are wet or uneven

Qualifications:

  • Experienced in using computers and versatile in navigating mobile apps on handheld devices
  • Knowledge of wiring diagrams, symbols, and electrical measuring is a fundamental requirement for anyone who deals with electrical systems on a regular basis
  • Knowledge in different areas:
  • After the initial inspection, preventive maintenance procedures should be put in place to address identified issues. These might include regular cleaning, lubrication, and adjustment of system components to maintain their proper function, as well as periodic testing and calibration of equipment
  • Blueprints and schematics contain important information such as measurements, materials, and installation instructions which must be followed carefully for safe and successful construction
  • Work order management
  • Industrial control systems, which involve the use of sensors, actuators, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs), are essential for controlling and monitoring various manufacturing and processing operations
  • The flexibility of these programs allows them to be customized to meet the specific needs of different applications, making them an essential tool for modern manufacturing processes
  • Its primary goal is to prevent electrical fires, electrocutions, and other hazards associated with the use of electricity in residential, commercial, and industrial settings
  • The IIAR provides education, resources, and technical guidance to professionals in the ammonia refrigeration industry
  • RETA offers certification programs and training courses designed to help individuals improve their knowledge and skills related to refrigeration
  • A mechanical/electrical field-focused degree earned from a technical or community college coupled with accredited industrial maintenance certifications such as Robotics, Industrial Networks, Machine Logic, and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
  • An experienced operator of an industrial ammonia refrigeration system with over four years of experience.
  • Cybersecurity professionals who are CARO and/or CIRO certified possess a deep understanding of the latest threats and how to counter them.
